Hypertec is addressing the demand for increased data protection with the launch of its new Encrypt Plus.Flash drives are becoming one of the most popular means by which to transport company data. A recent survey by Hypertec found that 54% of employees use this method over any other. However, with recent reports of top secret documents being left on trains it seems organisations need to be taking more precautions.
The Hyperdrive Encrypt Plus from Hypertec carries 256 bit AES encryption software, the same standard used by the US governments, meaning private files cannot be tampered with. It enforces strict password generation rules to ensure that the user employs a strong password and is not able to store data until the password is set. In the event of someone attempting to gain access to the drive by making repetitive guesses of the password (a brute force attack), the cryptokey is destroyed – permanently making the data inaccessible, generating a new key, and forcing the user to set a new password.
Lianne Denness, Hypertec’s managing director says, “We have upgraded the Hyperdrive Encrypt Plus range in line with corporate user requests for a more secure method of transporting data. Users can no longer access any unencrypted part of the drive, ensuring all data is stored safely. We are pleased to be able to offer organisations this extra security, which has proved particularly crucial for our public sector customers in the NHS, Police and County Councils.”
As with all Hypertec products, bespoke product and vendor identification information can be created specifically for the end user. The DataSafe BE is available in a variety of casings: rugged, retractable, slimline and standard, with capacities of up to 64GB.
